English Access (last class)

I had my last class with English Access yesterday. I was nervous, because I had to explain the
relative pronouns and I remember that it was a little hard for me when I studied it some time ago. I started with the warm up activity, I asked the students to stand up and make a circle, then they walked around me and I asked to make groups saying something like ¨people who are wearing the same color shoes make groups!!¨. This activity was to introduce the relative pronouns. After that, in the grammar part I explained to them the use of relative p. and I gave them some examples, as well. Then I gave them two writing practices to see if they had understood the topic, at the end in the wrap  up, we played “the hot potato” playing some music, the person who keep the potato had to describe him/herself using the relative pronoun; for example: I am a person who likes to help others.
A thing I love is the feedback, because you know your mistakes and learn from them, and also because the tutor gives you some pieces of advice. It is nice to know that they share with you part of their experience. I really liked the group I had; the teens are really kind and participative. Now I am eager to know what group will be the next one, and anxious to learn more.

  1. hello Almix! It's pretty cool to read this kind of blogs. I can see you're eager and willing to keep improving. It seems you developed your class in a very interactive way. When the group is participative and collaborative, you and your students enjoy the class; you varied the activities. Thus, the session becomes a meaningful experience. I bet you did not feel the time. A truly fine effort Almix!

  3. Hello Dear Alma! I think you feel nice because you made a good job teaching your students, and as you know we feel sad after to leave a group, but as you said you are so eager to know which group you will teach before.

I consider that there are some topics that we feel so difficult to teach. I had that experience in my first class because I had to teach "Fractions", and it is a vocabulary that we do not use commonly, so you sometimes forget it. However, what I can suggest you is to try to review the topic as much as possible, and you should make some exercises to practice because your students always ask about it.

CONGRATULATIONS ALMA! YOU DID A NICE JOB!!!

  5. hello Almita!!!...I love the the way you plan this class.
As I was reading I started imagine how would I taught that topic, and reading your blog I found you had pretty nice ideas. Let me congratulate you because this kind of topics are sort of complex and the way you developed it was amazing. That is what the work of the teacher lies on, the way we facilitate students' knowledge.

  7. Hi Alma!!! Now that we are facing this experience of teaching at the university we had the challenge to teach some things that were difficult for us to learn. In my case I had to face the same situation because I had to teach grammar.
