English Access (second class)

Hello people! Today I had my second teaching practice. At the beginning I was very nervous
because I realized that not just my tutor was going to observe my class, but also an American man. Well, I started my class by asking them how they were and about the last day they were together, because I knew they had celebrated Valentine’s Day and they shared a little bit about that day. For the warm up activity I asked them to make two groups, then they named the groups, and made two lines, so I said a sentence to the last student, this one had to say it to the other, until the first one got it to write it on the board. The group that kept the original sentence was the winner and they get a candy. Then they had a writing activity, after that a speaking one. They practiced the daily routines using the simple present and adverbs of frequency in those activities. I could not finish the lesson plan because of the time, but I will share the activity for you to use it when you need it.  The students write the things they like to do on a piece of paper given by the teacher, then they put it in a bag; after that they have to pick up one and read it aloud for the others to guess who wrote it. The student who guesses gets a candy.
I liked the class, because I felt comfortable with the students, they like to participate and it is very nice!
I had some problems with CCQ, because I asked for a lot of information and also with some grammar structures, because I was nervous, but my tutor gave me some pieces of advice.
I would like to read yours suggestions, thank you very much!!

  1. Wow! That was very awkward! I can imagine that having an american person watching your class must be very challenging. However, you knew how to manage it despite the visit of a new guest. Keep up with that motivation Almita, and you will always succeed :D.

  3. I really understand your point Alma, it is enough for us the fact of being observed by the teacher...and with an stranger in the classroom.....definitely I can imagine myself in that position and I agree with you....NERVOUSNESS is the right word to describe the moment...but let me tell you that those kind of experiences are the ones that will help us at the end of our practice....just keep walking my dear soul!!!!

  4. hey Alma! I see you have applied very good activities!
I know it is pretty hard when someone is observing you; you work like if you were under pressure. However I see you coped well with that. Though you were nervous, you kept on doing your job. Good for you Alma. BTW, nice image!!

  5. Hello there, OMG!! i bet that was a really hard momment for you girl knowing that an American was to be in your class as well, but at the end you have to think you are alone with your students, and remember when you are in front of a class you are the head so just relax and do what you love, teaching!! about CCQ´s use them when you want to know if Ss have understood something, for instance, if you are studying fruits, you can ask the to point, or to choose the fruit you are mentionening, and so on... nice job Almix;)
